Be you a thug or a marshmallow, we've all suffered from heartache at least once in our lives in some form.
Whether it was from your typical break up.

Or maybe you came home from a long day just to find the leftovers you had been looking forward to have already been consumed by a disrespectful member of your household.

Or even if it's because you finally got your hands on some money but everything in your online shopping cart is now sold out.

No one is exempt from pure unadulterated heartbreak, and we all know there's nothing like a sad song to get you through the pain. However, some artists are just a little too good at singing what you're feeling. While music is typically a healer, these ten songs are not what you want to listen to if you ever plan on getting over your woes.
But you don't have to take my word for it *Levar Burton voice*.
1. All Along x Kid Cudi
There is no way someone who's having an amazing day would want to listen to this for pleasure. As he rips into the chorus singing (or rather howling) "All along, all along.. I guess I'm meant to be alone" You may drop just one thug tear in agreement and contemplate never leaving the house again. What I'm saying is.. don't listen to it when you're in your feelings or you will stay there for quite some time.
2. Streetlights x Kanye West
This song will accidentally end up on repeat as you reflect on all the things in your life that went wrong. Honestly, if you're suffering from a bad case of Stare At The Ceiling's don't listen to 808's & Heartbreak at all, but especially not this song.
3. Love Song-1 x The Internet
Seriously. Don't do it. You'll start waiting for an apology text you are never going to get. Or you'll realize your parents are the only people that will never break your heart. You'll definitely think about how you did everything right as your ex's lover AND secretary working every day of the week *Mary J Blige voice*. The song is just over a minute, which is suprisingly long enough to finish off your already mangled emotions.
4. The Book of Soul x Ab-Soul
Ab-Soul is beautifully honest as he describes the pain he's faced throughout his life. He allows listeners to reflect with him as he narrates the alienation he dealt with at ten years old when he contracted a rare skin disorder known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. He goes on to share the heartbreak he faced in February of 2012 after the death of long time girlfriend and fellow musician Alori Joh.
When he exclaims "Seven whole years! SEVEN WHOLE YEARS! It was supposed to end with our grandkids" your heart will drop to your shoes. So, if your heart is currently in shambles, this is not the song for you to recieve your healing from.
5. Left Side Drive x Solange
Anyone who calls Solange the irrelevant sister clearly has not listened to this song. Personally, I can listen to Beyonce - Resentment and still get over my heartache in a decent time frame. Left Side Drive? Not so much.
6. Loner x Kali Uchis
This song is moreso relatable to those experiencing their very first heartbreak. If you're a veteran at dealing with hurt feelings, you may be able to handle this song. Kali describes leading a happy yet lonely life and then being manipulated into falling in love just to be dealt an unfair hand by it.
Listen below. (Unless, of course, you're currently in your feelings.)
7. We Loved It x John Legend ft. Seal
Now if you listen to this song on a good day you might not like it. I'm no music critic but the first time I listened to it, it gave me "Disney movie pivotal break up scene" tease. Like, maybe this was the background song when Tarzan was leaving the jungle and Jane behind to pursue a new life or something. Then all of a suddent when I listened to it on a rough day I felt it in my soul like:

Several times John Legend belts "Will I ever love again?" leaving you looking to the heavens asking "Well, will I Lord?!" Some songs were created for certain purposes! This one was tailor made for car cries and shower cries. If you plan on getting out of your bed and smelling fresh air anytime soon do not subject your broken heart to this song.
8. Jill Scott x Slowly Surely
In this song Jilly from Philly is walking away from all types of love.
"Self serving. Undeserving. Constantly hurting me love."
"Deserting me love"
"Confusing love. Misusing love. Abusing love"
Maybe this song will give you the power to move on like Jill Scott sang about.. or maybe it'll make you need another Kleenex.
9. Til It Happens To You x Corinne Bailey Rae
Similar to Jill Scott in "Slowly Surely", Mrs. Rae sings about not knowing where she's going exactly, but knowing that she refuses to stay in her current romance (or lack thereof). The first line of the chorus gives you that "Where did I go wrong?" feeling.
"It used to feel like heaven. It used to feel like May."
Deeper portions of the chorus embody what most people feel the first time that they experience a heartbreak.
"Nobody wants to face the truth. But you won't believe what love can do til it happens to you."
10. So You Can Cry x NeYo
NeYo is basically not here for these women nor their pity parties in this song. It almost makes you feel lame for being heartbroken as he sings:
"I'll ask the sun to shine away from you today so you can cry"
Sarcastically saying, the sun is not going to stop shining and the world is not going to stop turning, so get over it. It almost makes you really want to get over it.. almost. Until the beginning of verse three when he reminds you why you were sad in the first place:
"And your tears won't bring him back
I know you wish that it did
But it just don't work like that"
